Rate Shopping

Not all carrier services are created equal.  For this reason, NexxShip helps you determine the least expensive way to ship a package; or evaluates the least costly method when considering a customer’s delivery time and date requirements.  For businesses that ship from multiple Distribution Centers (DCs), NexxShip can rate shop, factor in time-in-transit information, and determine from which DC you should ship a customer’s order.

Time-In-Transit Alerts

Does your current shipping system tell you when you are paying a carrier too much?  NexxShip does!  If your shipping process does not take time-in-transit into consideration when making a carrier and service selection you could be losing hundreds, if not thousands of dollars per month.  NexxShip’s Time-in-Transit engine will alert you to opportunities where a carrier’s Ground service will meet or exceed the guaranteed delivery commitment of their expedited service.  For example, if an 2nd Day Air service is selected at the time an order is created, and Ground services that zip code in two days or less, NexxShip ship can alert the operator to the opportunity to downgrade the service level.

Global Address Validation

The on-time delivery of your customer’s order begins with a properly formatted and deliverable shipping address.  While seemly obvious, most businesses do not have logistics data quality procedures in place to ensure that at some point during the order creation or order fulfillment process, a customer’s address is standardized, validated, and formatted properly.  As a result, rather than preventing bad data from impacting their customers, these same businesses spend unnecessary and costly resources fixing it.  In a competitive and sometimes unforgiving marketplace, an “ounce of prevention” is truly less expensive than a “pound of cure”.

Global Address for NexxShip will automatically standardized, validate, and format the shipping address for more than 230 countries and territories, so that when you place a carrier label on a customer package, you can be sure that everything was done to ensure that the right item is getting to the right customer, at the right time, and right place.

Residential Delivery Indicator

Residential Delivery Indicator (RDI) is a U.S. Postal Service data product that helps you reduce shipping costs by verifying whether a delivery type is classified as residential or business.  By incorporation RDI into your order creation or order fulfillment process, you can reduce the frequency of carrier surcharges and adjustments that result from incorrectly shipping to a residential location at a commercial rate.  You can also lower transportation costs by rate-shopping for a service that meets your customer’s needs based on the delivery address.

Batch Processing

If your fulfillment operation includes drop shipping for your clients, then NexxShip’s can save you a considerable amount of time and expense.  If, in the process of drop shipping for your clients, you are required to manage, manipulate, and format multiple customer data sources (i.e., Excel files, ASCII files, etc), NexxShip’s Batch Processing Engine can help your streamline this operation.

NexxShip’s Batch Processing Engine allows you to map multiple data sources into one shipping system.  It will then allow you to validate the deliverability of each shipping address (correcting any bad address data that may come from your client); apply customer-specific business rules; consider Time-In-Transit when making a carrier and service selection; and all done in a matter of seconds.  Simple select the list you want to process and let NexxShip do the rest.

In-Motion shipping automates those labor-intensive tasks associated with preparing small parcels and LTL orders for shipment, which include: metering the flow of parcels across shipping workstations, scanning and weighing of each carton, and applying carrier-compliant labels.

RFID Tags

Large retailers, such as Wal-Mart, have determined that proper user of RFID tags can help make their inbound operations (products coming in from its supplier community) more efficient, thus impacting their bottom line on profitability.  Subsequently, retailers have set aggressive timelines that are pressuring its supplier community to include RFID tags on goods shipped to Wal-Mart Distribution Centers.   Certain government agencies, like the Department of Defense, is following suite.

NexxShip supports the automatic printing of thermal labels embedded with RFID tags at the time carrier shipping labels are printed.  This eliminates a separate business process to attach RFID tags to shipping containers.  NexxShip automatically determines and uses customer/consignee-specific label compliance requirements.  For more information on NexxShip’s RFID capability, contact your local Nexxio office.
